How confusing was LOST Tonight

I love LOST but tonight's episode was so confusing. I can't wait for next weeks episode I really don't understand them having to come up with a cover up story.

Maybe not just 6 people survived remember in Episode 1 on Series 4 Hurley got a visit from a Matthew Abaddon in the Mental Hospital and he was asking Hurley if the other survivors are still alive. In the same episode Hurley kept seeing Charlie who told him that they need him now. Jack then visited Hurley and he told Jack that they need to go back to the Island.


Does this mean that they had to leave some of the other survivors on the Island ?? We know Ben gets of the island but what about Locke, Sawyer, Desmond, Michael, Juliet and what the hell has happened to Claire ?
