Grand Theft Auto IV sold 3.6 million copies on day of release

Grand Theft Auto IV sold 6 million copies worldwide in its first week of release. Rockstar Games have said the game sold 3.6 million copies on it first day of release taking in $500 million.

Halo 3 sold 3.3 million copies making $300 million in it first week of release.

Take Two chairman Strauss Zelnick said the games "first week performance represents the largest launch in the history of interactive entertainment. We believe these retail sales levels surpass any movie or music launch date."
